Art Roundup: Week of Sept 4 – 10

The First Friday Art March takes place in and around the Starland area tonight, Friday, September 4, from 6 – 9pm! The event includes a brand new incarnation of the Indie Arts Market at the Starland Park featuring vendors, live music, food trucks, kids activities and more. Escape Savannah will host an opening reception for The Art of Rayn: Inside Out during the Art March from 6 – 9pm on Friday, September 4. The exhibition is a collection of works inspired by local artist April Rayn Taylor’s mother’s artwork, whose style of doodling has been called “zentangle art”, or art which seems to escape from the artist therefore bringing the “inside out”. Sulfur Studios will have an Open Studio Night during the Art March on Friday, September 4 from 6 – 9pm. Stop by to see what the artists in one of Savannah’s premiere creative spaces have been up to. This event also features live music from Kenny Murphy. Click here for more information.

Emily Kell’s exhibition, Woman, will be on display at The Sentient Bean for its opening reception during the Art March on Friday, September 4 from 6 – 9pm. Woman explores the multifaceted beauty, power, and mystery of nature and womankind. Click here for more information.

 

EQ: The Aesthetic Response, an exhibition of paintings by Julie Feris, will have its opening reception during the September Art March on Friday, September 4 from 6 – 9pm at Jelinek Creative Spaces. Through her equestrian portraiture, Feris explores the character and emotion of horses as well as the relationship between horse and rider. Click here for more information.

 

The Florence will host an opening reception for Cleonique Hilsaca’s print show, The Sweet Dreams Exhibition, on Friday, September 4 from 6 – 9pm during the Art March. In addition to a collection of Hilsaca’s work over the past year, a pop-up shop with zines, greeting cards and other print goods will be on site. Click here for more information.

 

Under the Impression, an exhibition of work by Elissa Frankino exploring the natural world via precious metals, will have its opening reception at the Sea Islands Center Gallery in Beaufort, SC on Friday, September 4 from 5:30 – 7pm. Click here for more information.
