Art Roundup: Weekend of June 5 – 6

The Artist of Social Change has its opening reception at Art Rise Gallery on Friday, June 5 during the June Art March from 6 – 9pm. Borne out of Emergent Savannah’s two-part panel series on the Artists of Social Change, this collaborative exhibition showcases the work of six artists who are actively working to make Savannah a better place. The exhibiting artists include Panhandle Slim, James Kimble, Molly Lieberman, Emily Earl, AJ Perez, and Labeeb Abdullah. Click here for more information.

Join Block-by-Block (a Deep Center creative writing workshop that focuses on community engagement and place-based learning) and their students for the official launch of their zine at Sulfur Studios from 6 – 9pm on Friday, June 5 during the June Art March. The Sentient Bean will showcase the work of Mariah Howington in an exhibition called Amica Mea throughout the month of June. The opening reception will take place during the June Art March on Friday, June 5 from 6 – 9pm. Click here for more info.

Sulfur Studios will host a silent auction and fundraiser called Elemental during the June Art March on Friday, June 5 from 6 – 9pm. The event will feature live painting, music from DJ Employee Ray, food and more. Click here for more info.

The Florence will exhibit a photography series focusing on the beauty of scars during the June Art March on Friday, June 5 from 7 – 10pm. The one-night-only show is called Stitched Up and will highlight eleven different survivors as they share their inspiring stories. Click here for more information.

After their Elemental fundraiser, Sulfur Studios will screen the classic surreal film Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. The screening will be accompanied by live music from Blackrune. The event is free and takes place on Friday, June 5 from 9 – 10:30pm. Click here for more information.
