In preparation for the 50th First Friday Art March/Better Block event, Art Rise Savannah and the SDRA are hosting a Better Block Work Day on Saturday, March 26 from 11am – 4pm. Starlandia Supply (2438 Bull St.) will hold a Found Poetry Workshop and Reading on Saturday, March 26 from noon – 2pm. The first part of the workshop will explore the history of found poetry (or “blackout” poetry) and the second will feature a collaborative poem activity. Vanessa German, one of the artists whose work is displayed in the Jepson Center’s State of the Art exhibition, will give a lecture at the Jepson Center on Thursday, March 31 at 6pm. German creates compelling works that invoke her mission to protect children endangered by circumstance and location. The lecture is free for Telfair Museums members and $12 for non members.
