Art Roundup: August 3 – 9

Perceptions of Savannah has its opening reception at the historic Kennedy Pharmacy on Wednesday, August 5 from 5 – 9pm. The exhibit is curated by SCAD Arts Administration student Shengzhang Gu and will remain on display until August 7. Click here for more information.

Drink & Draw will host a themed “Surf Rock Night” at Abe’s on Lincoln on Thursday, August 6 from 8 – 10pm. Bring your art materials and settle in to draw and drink with other local artists. Art supplies will be provided. Click here for more information.

Ampersand will host an opening reception for Haley Varacallo’s photography works on Thursday, August 6 from 9pm – 2am. All exhibited works will be for sale. Click here for more information.

Stop by the City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs Gallery (S.P.A.C.E.) on Friday, August 7 from 5 – 9pm for the opening reception of Raymond Gaddy’s exhibition Tall Tales. The artist will give a lecture at 7pm. Click here for more information.

Jelinek Creative Spaces will hold an opening reception for Stephen Milner’s photography works on Friday, August 7 from 6 – 9pm. Beer from Service Brewery will be available. Click here for more information.

Sulfur Studios will hold an opening reception for the group exhibition titled Wanderland on Friday, August 7 from 6 – 9pm. The multimedia show will feature artwork inspired by the works of Lewis Carroll, Henry Darger, and J.R.R. Tolkein. Wanderland will showcase artists who capture the fantastic, hallucinatory qualities of dreams. Click here for more information.

Sulfur Studios will also have an Open Studio event on Friday, August 7 from 6 – 9pm so that guests can take a peek into the studios of Sulfur renters and see what they’ve been working on. Click here for more information and a complete list of renters whose work will be on view.

Non-Fiction Gallery will celebrate the exit of its current ownership and welcome Art Rise Savannah’s new directors during their Goodbye Hello party on Friday, August 7 from 7 – 10pm. Non-Fiction asks fans to submit photos or quotes from their favorite NF events to nonfiction.gallery@gmail.com. Click here for more information.

Head down to Muse Arts Warehouse for a showing of The Last Five Years Musical on Friday, August 7 at 8pm; Saturday, August 8 at 8pm; or Sunday, August 9 at 3pm. This emotionally-charged musical chronicles the 5-year life of a New York marriage. Click here for more information.

Sulfur Studios will screen Metropolis on Sunday, August 9 at 7pm. This classic 1927 German expressionist film tells the story of a futuristic urban dystopia. There is a $5 suggested donation. Click here for more information.
